A Snapshot From Last Night’s “Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills”

Not really, but don’t this pup and kitten look blinged-out enough to be one of the “Bev Hills” gang? Taken at last night’s Meet the Breeds event, in NYC, where hundreds of dog and cat breeds were all dressed up and ready to party. [Gothamist] Keep reading »

How Do You Get Yourself Out Of A Crap Mood?

I’m not gonna lie — the last two weeks have been a blur of crapitude. Cavities, a bad cold, emotional dramz and more have left me both physically and psychologically drained. I’ve spent way too much time on my couch but can’t foresee any reason NOT to be there either. Usually, I’m pretty good about calling a friend, or getting proactive when things get me down, but this particular perfect storm of physical and emotional pain has rendered me totally useless. I have watched so much “Law & Order: SVU” this week that I’m on the verge of writing Stabler and Benson fan-fic.

We all feel like total poop sometimes, but not all of us cope with it in the same ways. What are your secret tips and tricks for getting through a rough time? Keep reading »

J.Crew Lets Its Hair Down

Take a close look at this picture from J.Crew’s website. Notice anything strange? Like, oh, the hairy-as-hell legs the model is sporting? We’re thinking the explanation could be:

A) J.Crew is finding its inner feminist (unlikely).
B) Some disgruntled graphic designer decided to play a prank on the company.
C) Somebody had a really dull razor the day of the shoot. [Dlisted] Keep reading »

Hero Of The Day: An “It Gets Better” Video You’ve Got To See

We’ve been hearing a lot about Dan Savage’s incredible “It Gets Better” campaign — and we’re sure you’ve seen tons of “It Gets Better” videos. But this clip from Fort Worth City Councilman Joel Burns is especially moving. In the 10-minute video, Burns eloquently talks about the private pain he felt growing up as a gay teen in Texas. Burns goes on to tell his audience that “even though there may be some political repercussions for telling my story, this story is not just for the adults who might choose or not choose to support me. This story is for the young people who may be holding that gun tonight, or the rope or the pill bottle.” Burns’ story, from one of the most unlikely places, is a prescient and moving gift to gay teens everywhere. Radical Read

We suppose it’s a little weird to be writing about wanting a book — but if you’ve read even a tiny excerpt of Rachel Shukert’s impossibly funny travel memoir, Everything Is Going to Be Great, you’ll understand. We started reading a copy of Shukert’s second book over the weekend at a friend’s house, but only made it halfway through — and now we can’t wait to finish it. Shukert’s hilarious tales of bungled travels abroad feature odd places, weird delicacies and even stranger men. It’s basically Eat, Pray, Love‘s younger, more fun sister (with a probable alcohol problem).
