Between “Game of Thrones,” “Mad Men,” “Girls,” “Veep” and all the rest, it’s impossible to watch all the good TV that airs on Sunday night. (I’d also include “Long Island Medium” in that, but nobody asked.) That’s why the folks at Jest.com made this television mash-up which incorporates characters from all your fave Sunday night shows. Here, we have Lord Tyrion getting a new campaign for the Lannisters from the guys over at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, while the girls of “Girls” attempt to woo the Stark boys. It all somehow seems to make perfect sense. [Jest.com]
We love seeing celebs without makeup, and this year, People magazine’s “Most Beautiful” issue even featured a bunch of famous ladies sans fards. But it used to be that celebrities would avoid being seen without a full face of makeup. What changed? A fascinating article from New York magazine charts the changing celebrity attitude towards getting caught without their faces made. Stars like Snooki, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna have all willingly been shot without makeup, with the idea that they’re somehow subverting the celebrity machine in doing so. Keep reading »
Each season, we like to change our drink up. After a spring of sipping tequila and grapefruit, we were thrilled to be reminded of one of our all-time favorite drinks: The Spritz. Spritzes are a favorite in Italy, where lazy late morning espressos on the piazza easily give way to early afternoon Spritz drinking. Spritzes can be made two ways — with Prosecco and Aperol if you prefer it a bit on the softer side, or with Prosecco and Campari, if you like your drink with a bit more bite. We’ve always like the more-drinkable Aperol version, which is why we’re practically ready to marry Mionetto’s new pre-made Il Spr!z cocktail. Perfect when you want a cocktail on the go — say if you’re surreptitiously sneaking one into a movie, or on a picnic at the beach (not that we’re advocating you do anything illegal) — Mionetto’s Il Spr!z comes in individual mini bottles and in a larger size for sharing. Not that you’ll want to, or anything. [Jericho Wines and Liquors, $11.99]
Smith College turns out tons of smart, plucky, independent and driven women, so it’s no surprise that they chose actress Jane Lynch as their 2012 commencement speaker. Equally not surprising: Lynch gave one hell of a speech, offering up humor, wisdom and some trademark Jane Lynch charm. “Today is all about you,” she told the graduates, “but just a little bit about me.” She encouraged graduates to accept what was in front of them, and then to do something with it. “If life gives you lemons, grab it by the horns and drive — and yes, i just mixed three metaphors. Remember, I was a C-student.”
This past weekend, the stars aligned for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. Adele and LMFAO were the big winners, but there were a lot of fashion knockouts on the red carpet. Let’s see what they wore, shall we?
Memorial Day weekend is next weekend, and if you’re going somewhere — and hell, even if you’re not — you’re going to probably want some new travel products so you don’t have to schlep around your full size bottle of Pantene or whatever. With that in mind, we’ve picked some of our all-time favorite travel products — the stuff you’ll want to stock up on so that you can look so fresh and so clean on your out-of-town jaunts. We’ve included everything from face washes and flat irons to dry shampoos — so you can look like you wash your hair, even when you haven’t. Keep reading »
