Oh, hello. Were you trying to get something done today? Too bad, because I’ve now thwarted your attempt at productivity with this too cute for words pic of a couple of baby cheetahs just born at the Smithsonian National Zoo. These little guys are the surviving two of the four that were born to their mama in late April. Sadly, their other brother and sister didn’t make it. Right now, they’re being hand-raised by zookeepers until they believe they can thrive on their own. That’s important, because cheetahs are considered an endangered species — between 8,000 and 12,000 are believed to exist in the wild. [Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute]

Etsy is a great place for allowing artistes to express their creativity. It’s also a place where weirdness goes to die. Take, for instance, this bizarro felt and fake leather necklace from Etsy seller the Triangle of Bears, which is made to resemble a mouth full of teeth and gums. Sure, you’d want to wear that around your neck, right? Because the teeth in your mouth just aren’t enough? And if, for some reason, you’re so inclined, you can have a set of fake teeth made custom by the Triangle of Bears, to resemble your mouth, or the mouth of someone you love. Everything’s a remake these days, so it should come as no surprise that MTV went and made a remake of the classic ’80s game show “Hollywood Squares.” Only in their version, there’s no John Davidson, Shadoe Stevens or Jim J. Bullock (LOVE YOU JIM!). Instead, the show features cast members from “The Jersey Shore” and members of the Wu Tang Clan cracking jokes at one another’s expense (trust me, you do not want to piss of Ghostface Killah). I did learn, on last night’s episode, though, that Donald Glover got his rap name Childish Gambino from the Wu Tang Clan Rap Name Generator, so that’s something. It airs Tuesday nights on MTV. Earlier this week, Iowa man Jerald Reiter was arrested with a zebra and a parrot in his car. But that’s not what got him busted. No, it seems Reiter was arrested for driving under the influence and was put in handcuffs in the parking lot of the (wait for it) Dog House Bar.
Here’s why I love Jerald. He says his zebra and his parrot were there because they like going for rides. You know, as zebras and parrots do. He and girlfriend (bummer) Vickey Teters say the two animals are like the couple’s babies, and they go everywhere together. Jerald says he knew he was too drunk to drive and was in the process of scooching over to the passenger seat when the police showed up. A likely story.
So many questions for Jerald. Like, how’d he procure a zebra? Where does the zebra sleep? Can he hook me up with one? Let’s work it out guy! [Neatorama]
So, I have mixed feelings about the trailer for Baz Luhrman’s upcoming adaptation of “The Great Gatsby.” On the one hand, Leo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan in period costumes retelling one of the greatest suppressed love stories ever. On the other, why does Luhrman always create an anachronistic soundtrack that completely pulls you out of the story? Also, I might be wrong, but I swear I thought I saw the Dos Equis “Most Interesting Man In the World” lurking around somewhere in there. In any case, can we talk about the costumes? I want these costumes. Really. Let’s take a look.
