Your 10 Best “How My Parents Met” Stories

Last week, we shared the stories of how our parents met. From Ami’s parents — who met at summer camp — to Kate’s mom and dad — who bonded over Shakespeare in the Park — you guys immediately connected and shared your own parents adorable stories. We noticed a couple of startling similarities in so many of the tales shared — for one, that people used to get married at a much younger age. That’s not entirely surprising — but it is rather shocking that so many stories involved couples getting engaged after only six weeks, and married after only six months. It seems the courting and engagement period was typically much, much shorter than it is now. And what’s more, from your stories anyway, most of those couples seem to still be happily married today. Just something to consider.

More than 70 of you told your parents story, and we’ve selected our 10 favorites for you to read. And if you haven’t told your tale already, feel free to share it in the comments! Keep reading »

If you’re not watching “Community” yet, I’m going to give you an assignment: Start watching it already. It’s one of the funniest shows on TV, and that’s in large part to the work of one Senor Chang, played by funny dude Ken Jeong. Jeong, who proves that you can switch up your life path at any time, used to be a medical doctor and then became a doctor of funny with roles in “The Hangover” and “Role Models.” Here, enjoy a selection of some of Jeong’s finest moments as disgraced Spanish teacher Senor Chang and get prepped for the next season of “Community,” starting up again this September. Amy Winehouse Lives On … Through Fred Perry

Singer Any money Winehouse would have made will go right to her newly-established foundation. “Amy’s royalties and fees from both collections will be donated to the soon-to-be-established Amy Winehouse Foundation. Fred Perry will also make a seasonal donation to the Foundation,” said a statement from the company. Amy’s father Mitch, who just can’t keep his face out of the public eye, also released a statement on the collection. “When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection it was natural to continue … Amy loved working on both collections, and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight into to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name.”

So, at least something good will come out of Winehouse’s work with Perry, and fans will get a couple of last opportunities to enjoy a piece of her creative output. [Huffington Post]

Karl Lagerfeld’s Macy’s Models Put A Lot Into Posing

Karl Lagerfeld is not known for giving two craps about the little guy. His air, his very being, screams elitist sunglass wearer and hater of children, after all. So we were over the moon to discover that Herr Karl produced an actually affordable line for Macy’s. The clothes are what you might expect from a man who wears gloves and black leather in the grueling dead of summer — black, gray, refined and sexy — and the price point is droolworthy: all items are between $50 and $70. And it appears the models, too, love their frocks. After the jump, we give a glimpse at the clothes and a rundown of their ridiculous model poses.

Her Best Looks: Florence Welch For TopShop? We Hope So!

How do you measure a style icon? Well, if you’re talking about Florence Welch, lead singer of Florence + the Machine, you measure her by her ability to transcend the fact that she is standing in front of a Burger King sign and still totally working a dreamy, ethereal, magical vibe. Florence has been tearing up stages and red carpets around the globe with her Stevie Nicks-meets-high fashion aesthetic. And now we hear she may be working on a collaboration with British fashion chain TopShop. Just like TopShop’s last celeb collaborator, Kate Moss, we’re hoping Welch’s collection will invoke her wild banshee spirit, and in honor of her upcoming fashionings, we’ve assembled some of our favorite Florence looks. Machine not included.
