Style Icon & Lady You Should Know: Kreayshawn

Nevermind that the spelling of her name is absolutely BEWILDERING, Oakland rapper Kreayshawn’s jam “Gucci Gucci” is one of the catchiest songs about fashion ever. The chorus, “Gucci, Gucci, Gucci, Louie, Louie, Fendi, Fendi, Prada/Those basic bitches wear that s**t so I don’t even bother,” is an ode to getting out of the labelwhore mindset. And to prove her allegiance to the idea, she and her nameless video sidekick (because a best friend IS the best accessory) rock the best style: doorknocker earrings, over-sized glasses, and babydoll shirts that, really, only 19-year-old rappers with 19-year-old abs can pull off. Listen to Kreayshawn’s track and check out our screen shots of their looks after the jump. Keep reading »

Because I’m Crazy: My Fake Nails & Hair Weave Fascinator

So, a few weeks ago, when the Greatest Wedding of All Time happened and all those classy British people got to wear crazy things on their heads, I got a little bit obsessed with fascinators. You know, like the weird toilet seat cover Princess Beatrice wore, and then auctioned off. I had a dream, and in that dream, I was directed to make a fascinator myself. Out of fake nails and hair weave. Thirty dollars worth of supplies later (it takes a lot of money to look this cheap, as Dolly Parton says), voila! My hair creation has come to life. And this is why I don’t DIY. Keep reading »

Ice-T’s Wife Coco Has A Clothing Line — And It’s Coco-Licious

Okay, okay, I’ll admit, my fascination with Coco, the booty-tastic wife of rapper and “Law & Order: SVU” star Ice-T is partly (mostly) about her butt, and the things she can do with it. So when I discovered that Miss Coco launched her own clothing line, appropriately called Licious, well, I had to see what kind of butt-enhancing fashions she’d created — and she didn’t disappoint. Coco’s site is rife with the kind of skin tight clothes we’ve come to expect — and love — from her. Do you suppose she wears those zipper-front pleather pants to the Walmart with Ice? I hope so. The Good, The Bad And The WTF At The “American Idol” Finale

Last night was the not-particularly exciting finale of “American Idol” (Scotty McCreery vs. Lauren Alaina? Snooooooozeville) and practically everybody was there: Gaga, Beyonce, Janice Dickinson? In typical form, they all wore some crazy fashions, but could not be upstaged by some of “Idol’s” past contestants. Witness their looks–hits, misses and all–after the jump.

Do Not Want: A YSL Bag Made Of Plastic Bags — For $1,720

For a while a few years ago, everywhere you looked you’d see those Anya Hindmarch “I Am Not a Plastic Bag” bags — a cheeky take on environmentalism and sustainability. Now, Yves St. Laurent has their own, rather twisted take on recycling; they’ve created a bag made from plastic bags and manufactured by artisans in Burkina Faso. And it costs $1,720. Called the “Muse Two Artisanal,” YSL says the bag show’s the company’s “commitment to innovation in design and particularly to corporate social responsibility, demonstrated in the initiative’s alliance with a non-profit women’s organization and its use of recycled materials.” But we’d like to know just how much of that immensely high sticker price is making it back to the women who made the bag. Melissa McCarthy Reveals The Secret Inspiration For Her “Bridesmaids” Character

By now you’ve probably heard — or seen for yourself — that “Bridesmaids” is totally hilarious and Melissa McCarthy, who plays tomboyish and frisky Megan, is clearly the breakout star of the film. On last night’s “Conan,” she revealed the celebrity inspiration for her character: None other than spiky-haired chef Guy Fieri. “Every scene I would have my glasses on the back of my head,” McCarthy explained. “I tried for a long time to convince them to let me wear short, white, spiky hair, and they were like, ‘You can’t actually be Guy Fieri.’” It makes so much sense!
