The new movie “Ides of March” is all about two of the hottest dudes on earth – Ryan Gosling and George Clooney — teaming up to run a political campaign. But that didn’t stop the ladies of the film from dressing to the nines for the film’s premiere. Check out who won the race — and who made a poor showing at the polls — after the jump.
The other day, Amelia sent me a picture of a really pretty girl in a great outfit. “I want,” she said, and so did I. The girl in question was Southern California style blogger Samantha Hutchinson, whose site, Could I Have That, chronicles her awesome life. I found all the essentials to Sam’s great outfit for you — and Amelia — to steal, after the jump!

Wouldn’t it be awesome to sit around with “Parks and Recreation” stars Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza and Rashida Jones and eat a bunch of candy? Well now you can! Watch as the ladies try out a bunch of snacks. (Pro tip: avoid the Pulparinos.) [RookieMag]
It’s not just that we love Beyonce’s new video for “Countdown” (and we loooooove it). It’s more like in the last hour or so we’ve viewed it about 10 times, and are obsessed with Miss B.’s incredible styling and Audrey Hepburn-meets-Bob-Fosse-meets-”Dreamgirls” vibe. Could she be any cuter with those Audrey-inspired bangs and perfectly manicured eyebrows. Oooh girl, it’s almost too good. We just had to break down all of the looks from the video, so we could salivate over them/try to reproduce them ourselves.
I’ve long associated Spanish designer Paco Rabanne with ’80s sportswear designs, though he’s had a storied history as a costumer for outlandish films like “Barbarella,” too. The line is now helmed by designer Manish Arora, who channeled Rabanne’s more extravagant roots. Using his couture sensibility, he created other-wordly chic aliens. Yes, you can invade our planet anytime. See the full collection here.
Okay, I have had it with you, Jeffrey Campbell. Some of your shoes are great, but holy hell dude, most of your shoes are straight out of my disco tranny nightmares (yes, I have disco tranny nightmares). What are you thinking, with the platform, and the pleather, and the fringe and just so muuuuuuuuuch? Also, do you hate ladies, because it seems like you might be trying to kill us all with the completely untenable platforms and ankle-busting heels. It’s just craze. Unadulterated craze. And though many of your shoes may be appropriate footwear for say, introductory classes at clown college, or a night in an ecstasy-fueled rave cave, we cannot really abide by the Jeffrey Campbell-ization of America. Moderation people, moderation.

It should come as no surprise that The Frisky staff is fairly obsessed with “Office” writer and star Mindy Kaling. It’s not just that we love her ridiculous portrayal of Kelly Kapoor, but we think it’s seriously great that she’s emerged as one of the smartest and sassiest female television writers around. We can’t wait for her new book, Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me?, to hit the shelves this November, so in the meantime, we’ve been tiding ourselves over with her blog, The Concerns of Mindy Kaling. This isn’t Kaling’s first stab at putting her random thoughts on the internet — she used to write a blog called Things I’ve Bought That I Love, but gave it up when her day job (heh heh) became more demanding. We’re happy to see that she’s back on track now, chronicling her fave sandwiches, shorts and jewelry in signature funny girl form. [The Concerns of Mindy Kaling]
So this is what the Olsen twins — Mary-Kate and Ashley — apparently think constitutes a Halloween costume. The pair dressed up — with venti latte cups-as-light-sabers in tow — as part of a new Halloween-ie video for their T-shirt company Stylemint. Even with the helmets on, the sisters manage to convey a languid boredom and over-it-ness that we’ve come to expect from them. Remember, you can never be too rich, too thin, or too Vader-y. Bangkok, Thailand has taken a pretty non-traditional approach to curbing police corruption. Of late, they’ve been punishing officers who act out of line by requiring that they wear pink Hello Kitty armbands on their uniforms. “This new twist is expected to make them feel guilt and shame and prevent them from repeating the offense, no matter how minor,” said Pongpat Chayaphan, acting chief of the Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok. “Kitty is a cute icon for young girls. It’s not something macho police officers want covering their biceps.”
Hmm, okay, so we get it. Pink Hello Kitty armbands are juvenile and girly. But God, there are so many things wrong with this idea. First off, does anybody remember the last time “violators” were identified using armbands? I’ll give you a hint: It stars with H and ends with OLOCAUST. Secondly, punishing with pink and girly imagery sends implicit messaging that traditionally feminine iconography and colors are shameful.
And this is hardly the only time pink has been used as a weapon…
