Science is a beautiful thing. Science has brought us many technological advancements, such as and including, air travel, tanning beds and mini-pizzas. But there are many things that science has yet to deliver on. And that’s got us kind of mad with science. We kind of want to have some words with science, okay? In the meantime, we’ll settle for assembling an incomplete list of all the things that we wish science would just get to working on, already. This list is by no means exhaustive, so feel free to include your own special requests in the comments. Keep reading »
Well, surprise, surprise. It looks like women in Hollywood are still screwed, at least according to a recent University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism study. Researchers surveyed all films released in 2009, and found that filmmakers still favor men over women — only around a third of all speaking characters were female. Not only that — women on screen were more likely to be scantily clad — three times more likely — than their male counterparts. Keep reading »
Look at this bear. Now look away from this bear and look at your man. Is your man as manly as this bear? What if I told you this bear was actually just a fancy decanter for a stick of Old Spice? Are you more or less attracted to this bear? Why are you attracted to this bear anyway? That’s just weird. [$19.99, Old Spice]
Oscar the Kitten was born without formed eyeballs, and was adopted from a shelter at just five weeks old. The poor little guy had a tough time adjusting to his new environment, until his owners brought out new toys for him to play with — balls with jingle bells in them so that Oscar could follow the sounds they made. Step inside the beast — the beastly beast that is Lady Gaga’s gaping maw. This is the entry way to “Gaga’s Workshop,” the special Gaga-curated section of Barneys that the Mama Monster herself dreamed up. The workshop opens tonight at 11:59 p.m., and Gaga is supposed to be there to oversee the grand opening. Aside from a visit from the Lady herself, shoppers will be treated to special McQueen armadillo shoe-shaped cookies. Insert something about the cannibalistic nature of fashion here. [NY Mag]

And also, what’s up with Sprint throwing its name up all over everything? Kind of tacky, no? Just about as tacky as some of the outfits worn by the potpourri of rock, hip hop and country stars in attendance at last night’s program. Click through to see what we mean.
Ladies, if you insist on getting plastic surgery, please make sure that your doctor is properly licensed and legit. Because unfortunately, there are predatory fake doctors out there, and they will put some crazy things up your butt if you let them. Like transgendered woman Oneal Ron Morris (pictured), who for the low, low, low price of $700 offered one woman a butt implant. Sure, said the as-yet-unidentified victim, who probably looked at Morris’ own very large derriere and liked the results. Keep reading »
