Weird Mother’s Day Gifts: Lip Plumpers, Divorce Rings, Cleavage Pillows And More

Mother’s Day is one of the biggest gift-giving days of the year — and definitely the least imaginative.

Moms, more than anyone, help us define our identity and uniqueness, but when it’s time to honor her, most people stick to boring meals at a safe chain restaurant, flowers or even housecleaning, instead of looking for gifts that express the one-of-a-kind personality of the woman who gave them life. Young Mother Dies From 2-Gallon-A-Day Coca-Cola Habit

Experts say a New Zealand woman’s 2-gallon-a-day Coca-Cola habit probably contributed to her death, a conclusion that led the soft-drink giant to note that even water can be deadly in excessive amounts.

Natasha Harris, a 30-year-old, stay-at-home mother of eight from Invercargill, died of a heart attack in February 2010. Fairfax Media reported that a pathologist, Dr. Dan Mornin, testified at an inquest Thursday that she probably suffered from hypokalemia, or low potassium, which he thinks was caused by her excessive consumption of Coke and overall poor nutrition. Teen Exorcists Give The Devil A Helluva Time In Arizona

Most women have to ward off horny creatures on a daily basis, but the one that Phoenix teenagers Brynne, Tess and Savannah contend with isn’t a high school quarterback, or a fist-pumping “Jersey Shore” wannabe — it’s the devil.

That’s because when the trio aren’t shopping, practicing karate or singing musical theater in local productions, they’re performing exorcisms on people who’ve found themselves demonically possessed.

“We’re just normal girls who do something extraordinary for God,” Brynne, 17, told ABC “Nightline.” “After seeing an actual exorcism in person, led by us, you will walk away with no doubt, whatsoever.” Read more

Kerry Trebilcock Has Eaten 4,000 Sponges And 100 Bars Of Soap

Dental nurse Kerry Trebilcock has eaten 4,000 sponges and over 100 bars of soap, but it hasn’t been in the name of oral hygiene.

The Sun reported that Trebilcock, 21, suffers from pica, a rare disorder that causes sufferers to crave non-food items. In Trebilcock’s case, this means washing sponges and organic soap. She told the Sun that she began to have these bizarre cravings in 2008, after contracting hookworm in Morocco. “I didn’t want to tell anyone as I felt like a freak,” she said. “But after a week I’d eaten nine sponges and over a pound of organic soap.” Read more

Weird Valentine’s Gifts: Anatomically Correct Heart Jewelry, Flying Cards, Foot-Soaking Boots And More

Valentine’s Day is a weird holiday in many ways.

Although it started out as a day to honor one or more early Christian martyrs named Saint Valentine, since the 1840s, it has been a manufactured holiday used to sell cards, chocolate, flowers and other romantic gifts.

But romance is in the eye of the beholder and not every person or relationship appreciates the one-size-fits-all approach to gifts of love.
