“Hi Kristen, I have a problem that I think many women might have. I am a little embarrassed to have my boyfriend see me completely nude. To me my body seems just average I guess, nothing spectacular and certainly not one I would call sexy. However, my guy likes to see me undress and worse, likes to have the lights on during sex! To be fair to him, he has never made a negative comment about my body. On the contrary he seems to like it! I can’t help but wonder though, what is he really thinking when he sees me naked!”—–Callie
What’s he really thinking when he sees you nude? Two words: eye candy. And quite honestly Callie, he’s more than likely not thinking at all! Continue reading…

“Do women have to be naked to get into U.S. museums? Less than 3% of the artists in the Met. Museum are women, but 83% of the nudes are female.” I have this hanging above my desk, compliments of a Guerrilla Girls’ ad. Artist Kristen Copham is responding to just this imbalance.
I spoke with Kristen today for the approximately 45 minutes it took her to paint my portrait – the 829th painting in a series of 1,000 that she hopes to complete by the end of this year. Kristen is the owner and director of the New York Studio Gallery, at the corner of Stanton and Suffolk in the LES. Just as she started painting me (I volunteered for her project), she began telling me about a series of male nudes that she is working on, saying “It’s my response to women being objectified.” Continue reading… Keep reading »
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you knew how the person you are talking to is processing your conversation?
NLP eye accessing cues can provide an enormous amount of insight into someone’s preferred method of processing information. NLP (Neuro-Lingustic Programming) was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970′s and is modeled on the gestalt therapies by Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson. Though NLP is a controversial form of psychological therapy, it incorporates some interesting techniques that can assist in more effective methods of communication. Many of the techniques encourage becoming aware of various postures, behaviors, and physical cues that clue one into a person’s internal mental process. These are a few NLP techniques to better understand what exactly is going on inside the mind of that person you are talking to or observing. Continue reading… Keep reading »
My great Aunt Agatha prided herself on being married for 75 years and she had a diamond ring on each finger – gifts to her for allowing Guiseppe, her husband, his afternoon “exercise.”
We often asked her why she had so many diamonds and she would say, “Some day, you will understand.” And what we came to understand is that her husband had mistresses, or as we came to hear her whisper, “comare.” Continue reading… Keep reading »
I got an email asking a very simple question:
“If a guy says he’s seeing someone, why is he adding pictures to his dating profile?”
Well, it’s not a simple question. It’s just one that requires you to think a bit like Dr. House. Everyone lies.
If you sent a guy an email via your online dating site and he replied, “No thanks, I’m seeing someone” and then started adding new photos to his profile a few days later, one of two things is happening…Continue reading Keep reading »
A lot of women are conditioned to believe that all men want women for is Sex. Men are the enemy, as they only have one thing on their mind. They want to abuse you and use you, and when they get what they came for, they’ll leave. This is not true, well not completely.
It is true that men have an instinct and inborn desire for sex, as women have an instinct to have children, just like the primates who came before us.
It is true that women can manipulate men to want to be in a relationship with them by using sex as a tool. Continue reading…
