The Dirty Secret Behind Justin Timberlake’s Golf Book

Ugh, I am actually a fan of Justin Timberlake so it broke my heart to hear that NYC lit agent David Vigliano is shopping around Timberlake’s golf memoir proposal. Maybe it’s just the die hard golfer in me, since I loved him being a singer, dancer, fashion designer and even enviro-friendly golf course owner, but this makes no sense. Why? It’s true he did play golf all through high school and I know he made the pro-am (pro-amateur) celebrity golf tournament circuits, but from what I understand from those who know better is that he isn’t exactly an avid golfer. Back in the day one of my friends was partnered in a round with him and decided that he was more interested in signing autographs than playing ball. Can’t Justin just write about his rise to fame like Vigliano’s past successful book deals with Shannon Doherty and Clay Aiken? Oh well, let’s hope I’m pleasantly surprised. [Um, for all us non-golfers out there, and we are many(!), does this sound like the most boring book he could possibly write or... ? -- Editor] [Observer] Keep reading »

Crave: Christopher Kane Gorilla Shirts

I don’t know what all the fuss is about when it comes to these ugly/sexy Christopher Kane gorilla shirts/dresses, but I love them. It makes as much sense as why people enjoy sitting in the rain or feel the need to eat Oreos with peanut butter. Celebs from Rihanna to our Sea of Shoes girl have been sporting them out on the town. (If anyone wants to time warp with me you’ll remember that indie fave Kristen Stewart even sported a gorilla dress on the march edition of Nylon.) Let’s investigate, shall we? Keep reading »

The Inspiration Board: Feeling Summer Much?

It’s hard to look all darling when you’re freaking baking inside a worrisomely hot car and not say, chillaxin’ in the breezy Bahamas. Somehow, our style icon-o-the-day, indie fashion maven Zooey Deschanel, makes toasty weather chic look easy and reminds us of cotton candy, photo booths, lounge chairs, and that sweet, sweet patio water mister we’re saving up for. Luckily, these cute shoes are cool and way cheaper. Keep reading »

Crave: French Factory J’aime Le Chocolat Long Necklace

Excuse our French? Well maybe not today. Coming from a very French family, we were lucky enough to grow up in Paris and go back fairly often. Our aunt has always loved the city and would take us out when we were little to tea or shopping and would let us wear her bright red lipstick. This past year we were visiting for our birthday when she decided to take is to a jewelry expo, and we ran across this company. French Factory’s mix of jewelry is very tongue and cheek — delicate porcelain or gold with modern day expressions ranging from ladylike to raunchy on them. This “J’aime le choclolat” long necklace translates to “I love chocolate,” and of course who doesn’t? While it’s a French company and we ran across them at random, they have French and English sites that are definitely easy to access. [$76, French Factory] Keep reading »

Style Icons, Remixed

American Gothic IThere are some iconic images that we just can’t forget, and can’t seem to stop copying. Instead of throwing up one of the many illustrations for this icon we thought we’d grab its fashion alter ego. John Patrick’s 2009 collection makes it seem like the infamous “American Gothic” wasn’t such a fashion faux pas. Click on through and see more remakes…

Jean Shorts Epidemic

Due to the fact that it is disgustingly hot and on the heels of the fourth of July, an epidemic of jean shorts has broken out. Now I realize there are some very cute jeans shorts women are sporting but that is not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the kind of jean shorts my dad used to wear with his thick white socks rolled out of his sandals before my mother put that to a swift end. Personally I think they are just “meh” but walking around with one of my guy friends this weekend he quickly noticed and announced that “men who wear jean shorts are freaks. period.”. Keep reading »

Will Ferrel…Sunscreen?

It’s somewhat expected that a celebrity might come out with a line of clothing or other branded product, but in this case we were happily surprised. Will Ferrell is launching a line of sunscreen to raise money for College’s Willpowered Scholarship Fund, which gives college funds to cancer survivors. You can get yourself a beach ready in three shades of 30 SPF. A “Sunstroke” will give you a manlier, dark bake while the “Forbidden Fruit” is mysterious and warns that the “…the less we say about this one the better for fear of being cast into a pit of fire. Lastly the “Sexy Hot Tan” will of course give you a sexy hot tan, which after all the naked scenes Will Ferrel has done, we should trust is true by now. Despite what you may think from the bottle and scantily clad poses, it is indeed fragrance free and not chest hair scented or anything equally ridiculous. [$12, Cancer for College] Keep reading »
