Your Guide To 2013′s Major Music Festivals

Once all of us get set into these winter blues, pretty much anything that’s accompanied by warm weather is welcomed with open arms. There are tons of things to look forward to, but the most exciting take place outdoors. What better way to break into the warmth with great tunes and huge, partying crowds? The music festivals of 2013 are starting to build up the anticipation, so we wanted to give you a guide to the most popular festivals coming your way:

Coachella: Formally known as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, it takes place each year in Indio, California at Empire Polo Club. This year it takes place on two weekends in April (4/12-4/14 and 4/19-4/21). Festival-goers have to purchase wristbands for each weekend they want to attend. Tickets go on sale on Jan. 29, and the prices range; weekend passes range anywhere from $300 to over $500 (with camping included), and can be purchased on the official Coachella Festival website (click for more information and a detailed description of the lineups for both weekends). Along with the crazy-awesome tunes you’ll be hearing, each year the festival installs unbelievable modern sculptures all over the grounds to incorporate art with music, just don’t climb on them. Read more…

5 Red Flags To Look For In Any New Relationship

Part of the excitement of meeting someone new is the endless possibilities. This could be the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, or the person who can give you an orgasm from oral, or the person who finally understands all of your obscure pop culture references. Getting swept up in the butterflies and the excitement is a blast, but it can also cloud your judgment and lead you to overlook the signs that the person you’re falling for kind of sucks. Let’s preempt part of the relationship where you’re crying over a bottle of alcohol, listening to your favorite Taylor Swift song and wondering where everything went wrong. Beware of anyone who displays any of these traits.

1. Balks at the idea of getting tested. It is the most reasonable idea in the world to want the person you’re having sex with to get tested. This is your health at stake. While most common STIs are curable, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking preventative measures to protect yourself. STIs are not just for “dirty” people, and anyone who thinks that way is not deserving of access to your body. Nor is it a matter of trust. There’s plenty of incentive to lie in this situation, and asking for proof is just pragmatism. Read more…

10 YouTubers Guaranteed To Go Viral In 2013

I’ll admit it; I’m a YouTube addict. It has everything – from makeup tutorials to cats being adorable. It’s completely personal. You can choose whatever you want to watch; just a quick search and you’ll either find exactly what you were hoping for or the strangest thing you have ever seen. It’s amazing. Totally bizarre, but amazing.

While there’s a small set of real power-holders in the YouTube world (think Jenna Marbles, the Shaytards, Ray William Johnson), the site is full of people who are so dedicated to uploading great material despite not having the biggest number of viewers. I’m sure their stuff won’t go unnoticed for too much longer, and I definitely predict 2013 to be the year of these 10 YouTube starsRead more…

Myrlie Evers-Williams Is The First Woman To Deliver Presidential Inaugural Invocation

Myrlie Evers-Williams is the widow of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers. Myrlie recounts meeting her husband and how he brought racial empowerment into her life. She also spoke about how they lived in constant fear because what they were doing at the the time – fighting for equality – could cost them their lives as it had already cost the lives of many.

“In 1963 Medgar Evans was shot to death by a white supremacist named Byron De La Beckwith. Beckwith was arrested and brought to trial but two all-white juries were unable to reach a verdict. Myrlie fought to bring her husband’s killer to justice for three decades and Beckwith was finally arrested again and convicted by a multi-racial jury in 1994.” Read more …

10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About The Sundance Film Festival

If you’re like me, you really have a very vague idea of what the Sundance Film Festival is actually like. In my head I pictured a massive amount of hipsters congregating to watch odd films that the average person cannot comprehend, all while taking breaks to toke it up outside and annoy the natives of Park City (while maybe running into a celeb or two). After researching for this list, I’m pretty sure that most of that is still true, but I’ve collected a few tidbits that legitimize the festival’s artistic and social standing a little more (even though I still think the films are a little weird). Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about the Sundance Film Festival. Read more…

Wrangler’s New Moisturizing Jeans Want To Make Your Butt Soft And Smooth

I love trying out new fashion trends but, let’s be honest. I have no idea what to think of this one. Wrangler is launching a new pair of jeans that “moisturize” your butt. The Denim Spa jeans come in three different moisturizing levels- Aloe Vera, Olive Extract, and Smooth Legs, and they claim to help prevent cellulite. The moisturizers supposedly contain “the hydrating properties of natural oils and butters” with such exotic ingredients as monoi de Tahiti? Never heard of that one until now…

This raises so many questions in my mind, and I feel have no answer for them right now. My first question is, how exactly does this “contraption” work? Does the cloth like continuously spray the aloe vera? Also, wouldn’t it feel kinda weird/ be difficult to get your jeans on over your underwear? Read more…
