15 Of The Worst Romance Novels In Existence

Now, they always say not to judge a book by its cover…but in this case, we couldn’t help it. Here’s a collection of some of the cheesiest romance novels, from the most cliche titles to awkward cover art. While I’m a sucker for a juicy romance novel, some of these I just will not be able to take seriously. Read more…

The Shy Girl’s Guide To Confidence

As a shy and insecure girl, I know that those traits have totally hindered me. Combined with an acute case of social anxiety, they made my adolescence and most of my college years a horrific blur of self doubt and thwarted potential – from missing out on friendships to not applying to the colleges I really wanted to go to for fear of rejection and/or starting my life from scratch. While being terrified to order in restaurants or raise my hand in class were definitely impediments, my social life suffered the most. I always sucked at making friends – I never thought I was worthy of the company of the girls I admired and that stopped me from pursuing or encouraging overtures. Even after finally forging platonic bonds, talking to guys always paralyzed me. It was such that the first guy who ever deigned to kiss me drunkenly admitted that he usually found me intimidating and unapproachable.

I didn’t realize that I was coming across this way, and it made me re-evaluate my thoughts and my behavior. Eventually, with time and concerted effort to change my thinking, I started to become more comfortable around dudes, thus increasing the frequency of sexy time occurrences. Gaining confidence can be such a struggle, but you can totally do it. Read more…

Erin Heatherton Approves Of Victoria’s Secret’s Photoshop Obsession

Scanning through magazines is always a really nice way to reduce my over-inflated ego. Typically there are pictures on pictures of beautiful, svelte women and I sit there like “Well…I guess I could start a diet” as I shove another Oreo into my face because YOLO. I mean it’s obvious that all of the pictures have been highly edited to sell whatever product they happen to be advertising, but edited pictures still don’t make a girl feel great. Recently, however, Victoria’s Secret has come under some media scrutiny for heavily manipulating their pictures. Right? Like, they really need to edit those girls – they already look like Barbie dolls. But they do use Photoshop, and a they use it a lot. Erin Heatherton, Victoria’s Secret Model, thinks there’s nothing wrong with adding heavy Photoshop effects to pictures. She thinks it’s about adding “fantasy” to the image.

I was surprised, I guess, to find someone so readily willing to accept that their picture had been drastically altered. I feel like if I were a celebrity and was so excited to pose for like Rolling Stone or Cosmo or something and then saw a picture that was clearly edited, I would feel like I wasn’t good enough. I mean Erin the Victoria’s Secret model is gorgeous, right? Is it really necessary to make her skin tanner, her cleavage more prominent, her abs more defined? How close to perfect are we trying to make these people? Read more…

7 Classes That Sound Easy But Are Actually Really Hard

Making your schedule in college takes almost as much effort as writing a ten-page paper or studying for an exam. You have to make sure you get the classes you need, and they all need to be at certain times so there isn’t any overlap (we don’t have Time-Turners in muggle world). One of the hardest parts about making a schedule is picking your “easy” classes. Those are the classes you pick when you need one more credit, but already have a packed schedule of the tough classes you need to fill your major’s requirements. You need these classes to be easy, because you’re either going to be slammed with work from other classes or because you don’t really care about the class, since it’s not a part of your major.

The worst thing about picking “easy” classes is when you think you’re getting a whole semester of take-home tests and completion assignments, but you don’t. The class turns out to be really hard, and suddenly you’re in jeopardy of failing your easy A class. Well fear not CC readers, because I’ve been through four years of college, so I know which classes to avoid when you’re looking to keep that GPA at a 4.0. If you want to coast through this semester, don’t take the following courses…

Kissing After Oral: Yay Or Nay?

kissing couple photo

Would you be grossed out if a hook-up kissed you after going ‘downtown’? Or would you be seriously offended if a guy rejected a post-bj make out session? Oral sex protocol is a seriously opinion-dividing topic, and I totally get why. A lot of guys just don’t like the idea of going mouth to mouth with someone whose lips have just touched their junk, the same way loads of girls don’t want to get a taste of their own downstairs area. On the flip side, it can feel like a pretty big rejection when a guy turns away from a sweet kiss after you’ve given him the blow job business. It’s just personal preference, which makes dealing with it a bit of a gray area. Read more…

10 Must Have Apps For Your iPhone

Ladies and Gents, it’s time! The iPhone 5 is here. So what’s so special about this version? For starters there’s a larger Retina display. This basically means that everything on your phone is going to be crisper and clearer. The LTE wireless technology will also speed up all connections and the new A6 chip makes everything twice as fast so you can get the information you need at lightning speed. Here’s the kicker, it won’t drain your battery life. So, what’s the downside? New type of charger and still no flash. Whether this version is going to be the best ever yet is up to debate. In the meantime, I figured why not compile a top 10 list of apps that have made my phone the most important item in my purse.

1. Find iPhone App: If you lose your phone this app will pinpoint its location on a map for you. Even better, if someone’s stolen your phone you can remotely wipe it and shut it off. Read more…

5 Things I Don’t Want To Try

I’m really supportive of sexual experimentation…for other people. I want everyone to have awesome sex, as often as they want, with as many people as they want, doing the things they want. In my own personal life, though? I’m pretty unadventurous (ie, boring). This extends way beyond my sex life too – I haven’t switched up my hair in months, I tend to order the same things whenever I go out to restaurants, I haven’t tried to make new friends in an eternity…basically, I think 90 percent of everything is trash, so when I stumble upon something I like, I cling to it for dear life.  Which isn’t to say I’m totally averse to taking risks in the bedroom, but after my brief-yet-painful dalliance with anal, I’m much more discerning about what I’m willing to push my boundaries for. There are a few sexual activities that are absolute non-starters for me.

1. Having porn on in the background. Not only do I find porn boring, I would be a little perturbed if me, in my own naked state, was not erotic/stimulating/exciting enough for someone else. Read more…

5 Steps To The Perfect Apology

No matter how incredibly awesome you are, sometimes you’re going to do something wrong, and people are going to get upset. That’s when you need to do this little thing called ‘apologizing’. It’s when you admit that you made a mistake and then say sorry for it. But sometimes just saying a quick ‘sorry’ isn’t enough (just a quick hint, you actually need to mean it, too!). If you’ve really messed up, acknowledging that and remedying the situation can be tough. Here are 5 steps to the perfect apology, no matter what you’ve done:

1. Take Responsibility. Know that if someone is upset with you, it is likely for a good reason. Take the time to reflect on what you might have done to upset them. If you haven’t done anything wrong, then don’t apologize. But, if you have, proceed to step two. Read more…

10 Reasons Drake Would Be The Worst Boyfriend

One of my favorite ways to pass the time is to relentlessly mock the rapper formerly known as Wheelchair Jimmy. While I genuinely enjoy his music, I can’t help but notice that he seems maladjusted, dysfunctional, emotionally immature, and generally pretty unattractive as a potential beau. Without further ado, my reasons for believing that if Drake were to approach you, you should flee.

1. He romanticizes the past. He has a tendency to reflect on his exes and reach the conclusion that they were perfect. Which means he’d end up drunk dialing them while you were passed out in the other room. Read more…

University of Montana Institutes Prerequisite Rape Quiz

Of all the things you need to get in to university – a certain GPA, a good score on the SATs and recommendation letters – did you ever think you’d need to be able to ace a quiz on sexual assault and rape?

At the University of Montana, in order to enroll in classes, all students must complete an online video tutorial and score 100 percent on a quiz. It’s the first university to require students educate themselves on the “myths and facts” of sexual assault. It’s come as a response to several allegations of sexual assault on campus last semester. It’s trying to address the “rape-prone culture.” Read more …
