The Obamas’ Adorable Date Night

Um, can I go on a date with the president? This Saturday, Barack Obama and his stunning date, first lady Michelle, jetted to New York City for romantic night on the town: dinner and a Broadway show. They chowed down at Blue Hill, then drove up the blockaded Sixth Avenue, where massive crowds lined the sidewalks, and headed to Belasco Theater to see “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” a play about black America in the early 1900s.

“I am taking my wife to New York City,” Obama said, “because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.” Keep reading »

Hugging “Epidemic” So Out Of Control, Some Schools Are Banning It

The country is up in arms over teenagers shamelessly groping each other, or, as some like to call it, “hugging.” The New York Times reported today that hugging is the new teenage greeting of choice. “The high-five is, like, boring,” says Katie Dea, an eighth grader in San Francisco. Hence, the hug.

“There is the basic friend hug, the bear hug, the bear claw, when a boy embraces a girl awkwardly with his elbows poking out. There is the hug that starts with a high-five, then moves into a fist bump, followed by a slap on the back and an embrace. There’s the shake and lean; the hug from behind; and, the newest addition, the triple — any combination of three girls and boys hugging at once. ‘We’re not afraid, we just get in and hug,’” said Danny Schneider, a junior, in The New York Times

Straight males embracing? Triple hugging? Good lord, SOMEONE HELP THESE POOR CHILDREN!!! Keep reading »

Katy Perry Plays Shun, Shag, Or Marry

So I guess we’re not the only ones shunning, shagging, and marrying? On a recent Australian radio show, “Kyle and Jackie O,” Katy Perry was posed the familiar question: Shoot, shag or marry? The players: Pete Wentz, Benji Madden, John Mayer. Perry didn’t take long to answer. “Well, Pete seems like a really good dad, as of lately. So no offense Ashley, if you believe in multiple wives, I would marry Pete.” Okay, agreed. Then she followed up with this: “I don’t know if I could marry John Mayer, it would just be so intense. I’d definitely shag the s**t out of him though. I can go on record saying that.” Whoa. John Mayer, I’m sure you can get Katy’s number. CALL HER. [X17]

Of course, that left Benji. “I guess I’d have to shoot Benji, he’s a nice guy, but someone’s got to go down.”

Sasha Grey’s R-Rated Role, Plus Other Porn Stars Who’ve Gone Legit

Porn Star Sasha Grey is in her first movie rated…not XXX. As in, you can actually take your parents to this one! “The Girlfriend Experience,” about a $2,000-an-hour Manhattan call girl. hit theaters this weekend and it’s been getting lots of buzz—and not just for Steven Soderbergh’s directing skills. For those of you who are not dictionaries of porn stars (I include myself in that category, by the way), Grey started her adult film career at 18. Since then, she’s been in more than 150 films, including, “Sasha Grey’s Anatomy,” “House of Sex & Domination” and “Teenage Whores” (parts 2 and 3). Soderbergh even admits he didn’t choose her for her acting merit. “I was very much counting on the fact that the interest in her would be greater than the interest in the movie.”

This got me thinking—are there any other porn stars out there who’ve made the switch to actress? Actually, the answer is yes.

Girls To The Left, Boys To The Right. Politically Speaking, Of Course.

Girls are sugar and spice and everything nice, and they may make you … liberal? A new study shows that those who have daughters are more likely to be Democrats than those who have sons. Why? Because parents with daughters, particularly fathers, feel strongly about gender equality and reproductive rights, making them sympathetic to left-wing parties. Or, in the words of one commenter, “Maybe this explains why my dad has become so much more liberal as he’s gotten older. (I’m the third of his three daughters. No sons.) Or maybe it’s because his Republican party went all bat-s**t insane.”
