Teen meets baby niece for first time in suit because first impressions are important

Everyone knows first impressions matter, and one Ohio teen was determined not to blow his first meeting with his new niece. When his older sister gave birth to a baby girl Tuesday, the 18-year-old showed up to the hospital in his sharpest outfit to impress the infant. His 16-year-old sister, Iris Kessler, tweeted a photo of Grant wearing a suit to meet the newborn, which the internet obviously found adorable.

“My sister is about to have a baby and my brother showed up to the hospital in a suit because ‘first impressions matter,'” Iris’ tweet read. Grant even had a tie clip and pocket square to complete the look, so you know he really put some thought into what he would wear for the big moment. If he puts this much thought into their first meeting, just imagine what he’ll wear to the baby’s first birthday party, first Halloween, and first Christmas.

The good people of Twitter loved how much effort Grant put into his first meeting with his baby niece, and after the tweet got a lot of attention, Iris told BuzzFeed her brother was playing it cool, but said, “I can tell he’s kind of freaking out inside. It’s pretty adorable.”

Iris’ mom, Karen Kessler, told BuzzFeed Grant was “extraordinarily excited, proud and protective regarding the birth of his first niece. His dressing up was both a show of respect and a way to honor her arrival.”

Iris later tweeted pics of the new mom and baby, named Carter, saying, “HEY GUYS MEET MY NEW BEST FRIEND HER NAME IS CARTER!!!!” The fam was clearly excited about the new addition.

Of course, she eventually tweeted a pic of Grant holding Carter. The 18 year old looks slightly terrified to be holding his tiny niece, while the babe looks perfectly happy in her uncle’s arms.

Grant will no doubt be an excellent uncle, and might even inspire people to up their hospital outfit game. Photos from the birth of a new family member are posted online and brought out for years to come, so it can’t hurt to look sharp.
