Kanye West says he would’ve voted for Trump, in case you forgot he mostly sucks

Kanye West is a self-proclaimed artist and provocateur, so you have to know that every time he opens his mouth or makes a naked wax doll of Taylor Swift for a music video, he’s trying to get a reaction from you. He’s basically America’s obnoxious little brother, except people actually listen to him and buy his sneakers. Here’s the latest addition to the “Kanye Being Kanye” file: Thursday night, Kanye said he would have voted for Donald Trump while he was on stage at the SAP Center in San Jose and went on a rant about racism and, well, a lot of shit.

But what really got the crowd going was his stance on voting. West said that although he didn’t vote at all, he “would have voted for Trump.” People immediately booed him and started ranting about him on Twitter (i.e. exactly what Kanye wanted).

One fan wrote, “And with that, Kanye is completely over, for me. I was hanging on to give him a chance. But, he’s done.” West gave his reasons, though. He said he was “glad Trump inspired racists to reveal themselves.” He also added, “I’m not asking y’all on your opinions on who’s better, but there are people who voted for either side that come together for music.”

Ugh, Kanye, why do you have to suck so much? I don’t know what’s worse, excusing Trump for being the divisive goon that he is or not even voting. Or that anyone cares what Kanye West thinks. Really this just means West doesn’t get to say shit about politics anymore. I’m fine with everyone having their own opinions and exercising their right to vote or not, but if you don’t vote at all, you don’t have the right to act like you’re some great spokesman “for the people.”

This is the guy who once said George W. Bush didn’t care about black people after Hurricane Katrina. So obviously, it depends on who West is mad it when it comes to racists. But for him, it’s about knowing the country is racist and calling out people’s complacency. Or so he said.

“Specifically to black people, stop focusing on racism,” West told the crowd. “This world is racist, ok? Let’s stop being distracted to focus on that as much. It’s just a fucking fact. We are in a racist country. Period… Not one or the other candidate was going to instantly change that.”

Trump thinks he’s glamorous and loves his things and his Tower and his plane. He’ll say shit to get people all excited and also goes on epic Twitter rants. It makes total sense that West likes the dude, since he does all of those things, too. Trump knows this. The president-elect said in 2015 after West said he would run for president in 2020, “I’ll never say bad about him, because he loves Trump. He goes around saying ‘Trump is my all-time hero.’ He says it to everybody. So Kanye West, I love him.”

On Thursday, West added that he would still run in 2020 and kick immigrants out, just like Trump. Cool, Kanye. Cool.
