When is Drake releasing new music? The rapper announced an upcoming project

The former child star who’s now transformed into the flush sugar daddy of catchy sad-boy ballads is hard at work, and Drake has plans to release new music soon, according to an announcement made on his Instagram as well as OVO Sound Radio. The new project, which is yet to boast an official release date, will be called More Life and is dropping sometime in December, so fans don’t have to wallow in the dark emotional well of suspense for too long.

While it’s probably safe to assume the new project will involve a stray track or two where Drake serenades Nicki Minaj with professions of his undying loyalty and thinly veiled intimidation caused by her rapping abilities, the OVO Sound founder hasn’t revealed too many details behind the new winter project as of yet. We DO know, however, that Drake isn’t releasing a mixtape, but instead wants his newest project to essentially be a playlist of his original music.

We can only hope it plays like a soundtrack for people who also worship Rihanna as much as Drake, with every track presenting itself as another slightly inappropriate kiss and every transition carrying the emotional weight of a tearfully presented 2016 VMA Award.

The full official announcement, which can be heard on episode 32 of OVO Sound Radio, featured Drake expressing his desire to provide us with the soundtrack of our lives (just in time for cuffing season):

“I’m off like mixtapes, I want to do a playlist. I want to give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life, so this is More Life: The Playlist. Like I said, dropping in December. All original music from me. You might hear some tunes from the family on there. Just really excited. I had a great tour, I had a great summer. And most people would like go probably take a break, but for me I just want to get right back to it. Be with the people again.

Boy Meets World Tour, coming up soon. UK, I’ll be there soon. Big up to UK massive. Everybody—Paris, Amsterdam, Sweden, anywhere we are touching down. But yeah, I just want to celebrate life. More life. That’s what we live by. That’s something we not take for granted.”

You heard the man: he wants to celebrate life and give you a soundtrack to your life. In fact, Drake released a few sample tracks as a positive omen of the project to come. You can listen to them here.
