Azealia Banks alleged Russell Crowe assaulted her at a party, but witnesses told another story

Following a party this past weekend, Azealia Banks claimed Russell Crowe assaulted her and called her racial slurs before kicking her out of a suite at Beverly Hills Hotel. On Saturday, Banks posted about Crowe on her Facebook page, claiming he choked her, called her names, and spat on her before throwing her out of the party. The Facebook post is now deleted, but immediately gained traction both among followers of the 25-year-old musician and fans of the Oscar-winning Australian actor.

However, witnesses at the event interpreted the night very differently from Banks. According to reports from TMZ, Crowe had planned a small dinner for 10 friends to listen to music and eat at his Beverly Hills suite, and his good friend RZA brought Banks as a guest. Witnesses claim that during the course of the dinner, Banks called Crowe a boring old white man, and went on to make similar statements about another dinner party guest before a woman at the party suggested Banks stop. After being asked to calm down, Banks allegedly got angry and talked some more shit before saying: “You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino shit.

Witnesses told TMZ that Crowe remained calm until he saw Banks grab her champagne glass, at which point he carried her out of the suite and called security to remove her from the building.

While Banks has removed herself from social media after the weekend, her now-deleted post on Facebook about the traumatic night said:

“To recap my night, I went to a [party] at Russell Crowe’s suite, at which he called me a n—-r, choked me, threw me out and spat at me. Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I’ve had in a long time. The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today.”

Before deleting the posts, Banks also added a comment that said, “I have receipts. Stay tuned.” The link between the feuding singer and actor, RZA, claims Crowe didn’t assault Banks, although to be fair, given the fact that he’s friends with both of them, he may not be the best person to ask. At this point, no legal charges have been made from or against either party involved. Hopefully, this gets sorted out in the healthiest way possible given the circumstances.
