Drake postpones Summer Sixteen tour with dramatic all-caps letter about ankle injury
Summer 2016 is officially over, and so is Drake’s tour (for now). The Canadian artist announced the delay of his Summer Sixteen tour due to an ankle injury. According to a letter signed by the rapper, he has powered through the pain throughout several shows so his fans could get the full Drizzy experience, but his doctor stepped in to tell him to give his ankle a chance to fully heal. So, Drake has been forced to postpone a few shows for an unspecified amount of time.
Unfortunately, these shows include two places he loves: Toronto (his hometown) and Philly (the city which showed him brotherly love). He will also postpone a Newark, New Jersey show, but promises to perform the other scheduled date there since he hasn’t had a chance to bless them with his presence.
Drake’s all-caps letter showed his obvious anguish, and he thanks his fans for showing him love and understanding his situation. But, don’t think for a second that he will just be sitting around. The prolific rapper closed his letter with good news for fans — when he returns to the stage to finish out his tour, he will come back with a strong ankle AND new music. The 6 God may not be there when you want him, but he’s always right on time.
Drake was recently in Des Moines, Iowa for a performance and had a chance to visit Drake University. Per usual, he was up to his normal shenanigans as he roamed around campus, knocked on sorority house doors, and posted up for a pic with the Drake University sign. The student body had petitioned for him to visit for a while and Drake made sure he took time to grab a jacket for his onstage performance.
The rapper also has another important reason to let his ankle heal — a milestone birthday. He’ll turn 30 Oct. 24, and surely has something up his sleeve. Whatever it is, we hope it has all the Hotline Bling-ish dance moves he can handle. Because even a bum ankle can’t keep separate Drizzy from the impending turn up.
