Kim Kardashian robbed at gunpoint in Paris apartment while in France for Fashion Week

At the end of her stay for Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris early Monday morning local time. The reality star and fashion icon was renting out an apartment in a luxury mansion in Paris when two gunmen dressed as police officers made their way into her room and locked her in a bathroom while they stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry, according to reports from BBC.

A judicial source told NBC News five gunmen dressed as police approached the property and threatened the mansion concierge at gunpoint until two of them gained further access to the property. Kardashian West was reportedly bound and gagged in the bathroom during the duration of the robbery, and a spokesman for Kardashian West said she was left “badly shaken but physically unharmed” following the incident. The thieves were able to escape with a jewelry box full of pieces cumulatively worth $5.6 million dollars, as well as a ring worth $4.5 million dollars, two cellphones, her purse, and 1,000 euros. Following the escape of the robbers, Kardashian West managed to break out of her bindings and exit the bathroom in order to call for help.

Kanye West was performing a show at Meadows Festival in Queens during the robbery, and once informed, halted the show halfway through, telling fans, “I’m sorry I have a family emergency, I have to stop the show.”

Luckily, the children, North and Saint, weren’t on the scene at the time of the robbery, which was around 3 a.m. local time. The Kardashian Wests took a flight out of Paris early Monday morning following the incident.

Despite being physically unharmed, the experience left Kardashian West feeling extremely shook up, a close source told E!, “She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home. Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub. She thought they were for sure going to kill her.”

On Twitter, the mayor of Paris condemned the robbery and assured Kardashian West that she’s welcome back anytime, stating that her experience wasn’t demonstrative of citywide security, but rather pertained to that private property she rented. She tweeted in French:

“I condemn the assault on @KimKardashian that night in Paris and I want to tell her that she will always be welcome in Paris.”

Luckily she’s safe and back in America.
