Daniel Radcliffe explains the major difference between Trump and Lord Voldemort
Since Donald Trump came on the political scene, there have been endless comparisons between the real estate mogul running for president and Harry Potter’s Lord Voldemort. While Trump presumably has a nose and some hair, Daniel Radcliffe explained the main difference between Trump and Voldemort in an interview with Sky News. Although he said, “That comparison is certainly not without its merits,” the Harry Potter actor believes Voldemort is more pure evil, while The Donald’s danger is in his performative evil.
“I sort of think Donald Trump might not be as, um, as ideologically pure as Voldemort,” Radcliffe told Sky News.”My thing on Trump is that he feels like more of an opportunist, like I don’t know how much of this stuff he’s saying he actually, really, really believes.” But does that make one more dangerous than the other? Whether or not you truly believe the hate you spew out into the world doesn’t necessarily correlate to the damage it causes.
J.K. Rowling would probably agree with Radcliffe, but her words were much harsher when she added fuel to the Trump-Voldemort fire back in December. She responded to a BBC News story explaining why people were comparing Trump to the villain, saying on Twitter, “How horrible. Voldemort was nowhere near as bad.“
Of course, both Rowling and Radcliffe are British, so they won’t be voting in November. But everyone can see the similarities between Trump and the Harry Potter antagonist.
