Katy Perry gets naked to encourage people to vote (but please wear clothes)
Katy Perry has been extremely vocal this election, becoming Hillary Clinton’s on-call musical guest, donning red, white, and blue ball gowns, and constantly posting on social media about her girl Hill. Now, Perry’s getting naked to coax people into voting in a Funny or Die and Rock the Vote video that went online Tuesday, which happens to be Voter Registration Day.
Monday, before Hillz and Trump went head to head on the debate stage for the first time with millions of Americans reluctantly watching, Perry teased her upcoming bare-all video on Twitter. She wrote: “TOMORROW, I USE MY BODY AS CLICK BAIT TO HELP CHANGE THE WORLD.” She did not disappoint.
The premise of the clip is Perry telling voters they can literally roll out of bed and vote Nov. 8 — no need to make yourself pretty to cast a ballot. She rolls into the voting spot in her American flag pajamas, with candy stuck in her hair and fake eyelashes stuck to the middle of her eyelids, to prove that it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing or what you look like.
Here’s where it gets more interesting. Perry rips off her pajamas in the middle of what I can only assume is a high school gym being used as a pretend voting location.
The pop star is quickly arrested (because public nudity laws are a thing), telling the officers, “I read the Constitution. I know that I have the right to vote naked.” One of the cops responds, “Did you read it, or did you just briefly scan it?”
Sticking her head out of the police car while being hauled away to jail, Perry tells voters, “Scratch that. Gotta wear clothes. My bad. See you at the polls Nov. 8!”
That’s some serious dedication to voting.
If you aren’t registered yet, get on that shit. You can easily register to vote here.
