The ‘Gilmore Girls’ Trailer Attempts To Bring Lorelai And Rory Into 2016

Since Netflix announced the cast of Gilmore Girls would reunite for a four-part reunion, fans have been anxiously awaiting news of what the new episodes will entail and when they’ll be released. Well, the time has finally arrived. Netflix released the first trailer for the revival Wednesday, trying to bring Gilmore Girls into 2016 with references to Amy Schumer and John Oliver. Oh, and the new episodes will be released on Netflix Nov. 25 at 12:01 a.m. PT, so obviously cancel any post-Thanksgiving plans you’ve already made.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will consist of four 90-minute episodes co-directed by creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, each set in a different season. Netflix didn’t say whether all four will go up on the site at the same time like it usually debuts new seasons of shows, and Sherman-Palladino previously said she wants the episodes to be a little spread out. That will seriously impede my binge watching plans, so let’s hope that’s not the case.

The beloved show went off air in 2007, so the revival has a lot of time to make up for. The trailer wasted no time showcasing exactly how the writers will bring Lorelai and Rory into the present, with plenty of jokes about current events and celebs in the classic Gilmore fashion.

After a dramatic opening with shots of Luke’s diner, the Dragonfly Inn, and downtown Stars Hollow, the trailer cuts to Lorelai and Rory sitting at Lorelai’s kitchen table (coffee in hand, of course). Lorelai asks, “Do you think Amy Schumer would like me?,” to which Rory truthfully answers “no.” Rory explains that she always sees Schumer doing water sports in magazines, and anyone who knows Lorelai knows she would never be caught dead doing any type of physical activity, let alone an actual sport.

Schumer quickly made it clear Wednesday that she would, in fact, like Lorelai, tweeting: “I would love her!” Because, duh, who wouldn’t?

Oliver also gets a mention from Lorelai, when she asks, “Do you think John Oliver would find me hot?” Again, duh.

Watch the full trailer to really get hyped for the new episodes, bound to be full of more quick-paced, slightly narcissistic ramblings from Lorelai and blunt, but somehow still sweet, reactions from Rory.

Nov. 25 can’t come soon enough.
