Ciara and Russell Wilson’s Fairytale Wedding Is Giving Us All the Sappy Feels

Singer Ciara has officially had the best week ever. Shortly after rocking the stage in New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival, the superstar jetted to England to marry her NFL quarterback fiancé Russell Wilson. The duo, who have been giving us serious #relationshipgoals since they were first spotted at a White House dinner in 2015, decided to share their exciting news via Instagram Wednesday.

Ciara posted a photo of her in a stunning Roberto Cavalli white lace gown with her new husband by her side. Wilson kept it classic in a black Armani suit, and held onto his new bride’s hand as they shared a smile. While it’s hard to see the decor in the room, there seems to be a lot of white flowers and candles to bring a romantic, intimate vibe to the ceremony. The couple’s eyes are not looking at the camera, but their wide smiles and Ciara’s raised bouquet are clear signs that they are both thrilled to be husband and wife. Ciara’s Instagram post also included a sweet yet simple announcement: “We Are The Wilsons!”

The Wilsons tied the knot Wednesday at the Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England in front of more than 100 family and friends. The castle location is no surprise — after all, they have had a fairytale, whirlwind romance, and Ciara’s middle name just happens to be Princess. Her bridesmaids included celebrity friends Kelly Rowland and LaLa Anthony, as well as her new sister-in-law, Anna.

One of her bridesmaids, tennis star Serena Williams, had to back out because she was busy kicking ass at a Wimbledon match. I guess that’s what happens when one of your close friends happens to be a sports legend. But, Williams was able to join in on the bachelorette fun in Vegas. Ciara posted a fun video of her crew a couple of weeks ago as they danced while donning bikinis. Interestingly, the bride-to-be wore white while her girls gang wore black – a reflection of their eventual wedding attire.

At the wedding, the bridesmaids wore black designer gowns as they watched their girl walk down the aisle. Michael Costello, the dress designer for the bridal party, revealed the bridesmaid designs and told People magazine Ciara wanted to make sure each dress fit the woman’s figure and personal style. A source at the wedding said the affair was very traditional and had a huge focus on their religious faith – a topic that’s been discussed since the pair revealed their vow of celibacy until marriage. The couple recited their vows to each other and fought back tears of joy during the emotional ceremony.

Fans of the couple have been on wedding watch since the video of their romantic engagement was posted on Wilson’s Twitter back in March. The day before their wedding, the pair was spotted heading into the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool and Ciara’s white dress sparked rumors of a secret wedding. Now, we all know it was more than just social media chatter, and we are patiently waiting for more photos of the cute couple. The Wilsons are probably honeymooning right now, but they will have to make their marriage legal in the United States eventually, since they got married across the pond.

Personally, I love Ciara and Wilson. Despite all the negative chatter surrounding their relationship, the pair has always remained positive and fearless about showing their love publicly. After having her heart broken by that rapper who shall not be named, Ciara found love with the man of her dreams. Their decision to be celibate was ridiculed (partly because Ciara was already a mother), but they stayed true to what they believed in and I can’t help but respect them for doing what they thought was best for their relationship.

They seem like a relatively normal couple bursting at the seams with sappy love, and it’s nice to see happy news in the midst of our crazy ass world. Congrats and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson!
