Trump Supporters Really Love These Motivational Posters With Voldemort Quotes
At this point in our terrifying election, the reality of Donald Trump and his supporters is no longer funny and just feels like a boiling pot of poison preparing to destroy our country. That being said, the ways Trump supporters can be so easily riled up and manipulated still occasionally elicits a laugh, especially recently when they were duped into buying motivational Trump posters with Voldemort quotes.
The Trump fans were tricked into supporting Voldemort (although I imagine most of them identify more with Voldemort than Harry anyways, or really, I imagine no Trump supporters have even read Harry Potter because Satan lives betwixt its pages) by the mastermind activists behind the internet collective wwwayward. As stated on their website, “wwwayward amplifies the voices of everyone who’s an outcast, and willfully disobedient,” so sending an undercover member to a Trump rally is right up their alley.
The poster itself features a picture of Trump looking like a rejected action figure that melted in the sun with the quote, “There is no good and evil, there is only power, and those too weak to seek it.” Unbeknownst to many of the Trump supporters who bought the poster, the quote was taken straight from Voldemort’s sniveling mouth, from the classic book Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone. The poster even features a subtly embedded image of Voldemort to haunt Trump supporters after they’ve hung the poster in the comfort of their homes.
As you quickly find out from the cleverly conceived video, all proceeds from the poster sales are being donated to Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement, which is an organization that supports the LGBTQ members of Latino communities.
Exposing the ignorance of Trump supporters by selling them a poster with a Voldemort quote speaks volumes about the sheep-mentality involved in supporting him (or really, in blindly supporting any candidate). It’s been said before and I’ll say it again – there are a LOT of similarities between the two villains.
For one, both Trump and Voldemort have no real hair (it’s a low blow but a very real one). They both represent the faces of ugly, petty, and insidiously widespread patriarchal evil. Both of them are down to fight and murder children, with Voldemort engaging in violence in the warring wizard-world ways, and Trump saying he would blindly kill families to “defeat ISIS.”
On a more personal note, the sight and sound of both of them causes my bones to shiver while my blood boils into a violent state of, “oh GOD NO, NO.” So, the Trump supporters got duped, but also Voldemort is pretty on-brand for them.
