Justin Bieber Won’t Take Pictures With Fans Anymore And Frankly, That Feels OK

I say this with a probably unhealthy about of love for both parties: Justin Bieber is starting to look like Britney Spears circa 2007. His latest move is an Instagram announcement that he won’t take pictures with fans because he “feels like a zoo animal.”

That new policy could seem isolating for someone who makes a living from fan support. But in a savvy move, Bieber took the time to explain his reasoning. The explanation shows that he knows exactly what he’s doing and why… or at least, that he has a a therapist who has taught him well. He responded to criticism from a fan by holding fast to his shiny new boundaries. His words are so good I suggest you keep them on file for the next family Thanksgiving:

“If you think setting boundaries is being a douche I’m the biggest douche around but I think it’s smart and will be the only way I last… I’m going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth and no human being will make me feel bad for it.”

Damn, Justin. You do you and we’ll be here listening — just from slightly outside the arena because the poor thing also had to cancel his meet and greets due to “emotional exhaustion.”

Aside from these emotional strides, Justin has definitely been engaging in some questionable behavior lately. First and foremost, he got a face tattoo. Yes, a tattoo right to the dome: A small cross next to his eye to “represent his journey in finding purpose with God.” Bieber also cried onstage at the Wells Fargo Arena this weekend singing “Purpose.” More worryingly, he also dropped the mic and started mumbling to himself towards the end of the song — which is said to be about his new relationship with God. Let’s not forget he also cried at the MTV VMAs last year. Yesterday, he “wandered around a Boston park barefoot.” Did he go a little loony or enjoy a perfectly lovely afternoon?

I’m not here to monitor a man’s tears! Let the boy cry. Sometimes you want to take off your damn shoes and feel the grass. But let’s hope someone besides the tabloids is taking note.

Bieber is 22 years old and he’s performing a total of 114 shows across the globe until November on his Purpose World Tour. As his Instagram announcement points out, he’s already given us an album. He’s given us his tears. He’s given us some very good selfies.

How much more can we ask of this poor boy?
