St. Vincent Is Directing A Horror Film! Annie Clark Is Set To Make Her Directorial Debut With ‘XX’

Aside from Quentin Tarantino’s Deathproof, it’s hard for me to think up a horror film that passes the Bechdel test with flying colors. XX is an upcoming horror anthology that will feature several segments, all of which will have a female director. Annie Clark, better known by her musical moniker, St. Vincent, is directing a horror film — her debut in this capacity — with this project.

According to Vulture, “Each director has full creative license to tell any story she chooses, as long as it revolves around a female protagonist and involves horror. Some of the other directors involved are Karyn Kusama (The Invitation), Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance), and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird).”

Clark’s particular segment was co-written and produced by Roxanne Benjamin (V/H/S, V/H/S/2, Southbound) and is set to start filming this Spring. In a statement, Clark said, “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to explore the genre-film medium.”

We’re thrilled that you’re thrilled, Annie.
