Kickass Woman Of The Day: This High School Student Who Got Accepted To All 8 Ivy League Schools

Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, valedictorian of Long Island’s Elmont Memorial High School, has been accepted to all eight Ivy League schools plus four additional schools. Uwamanzu-Nna, daughter of Nigerian immigrants, also has a 101.64 GPA, was a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search for research she did on cement that could help underwater oil rigs from rupturing, and has been invited to the White House Science Fair.

And as if that’s not enough, she is totally effusive and sweet, saying in a press release, “My recent accomplishments reflect the hardworking ideals of the town of Elmont, my supportive parents and my dedicated teachers. I am elated, but most importantly, I am thankful.”

She told WABC that she’s visited Nigeria several times and recognizes the advantages and opportunities she has that her cousins don’t. Whatever she does, she says she wants it to “have an impact on Nigeria.”

If this young woman isn’t enough of an inspiration for you to put your nose to the grindstone and be your absolute best self, I don’t know what possibly could be. Set a Google alert for “Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna” — my bet is that it’ll be poppin’ not too long from now.
