Chris Hemsworth Is A Feminist Who Loves Badass Women And ‘His Mum’
In a recent interview with Radio Times, dapper Australian actor Chris Hemsworth revealed that not only does he identify as a feminist, but he actively wants to see women in powerful action roles. Also, he loves his mum. The 32-year-old has roles in both the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot and the sequel to the abysmal Snow White And The Huntsman, The Huntsman: Winters War, both of which star a slew of strong female protagonists.
When asked about his role in The Huntsman: Winters War, Hemsworth revealed that the “badass female characters” were one of his main reasons for picking it.
“I think the balance has been tipped for a long time heavily in the men’s direction. There are seven to eight male superheroes and one female in there. This is the opposite.”
When the fluffy-haired ally was asked directly whether or not he identifies as a feminist – because that will be an endless question until the matriarchy has been instated – he fanned himself with a picture of his mom and said yes.
“My mum’s a big feminist. I think that my views on things, as far as respect for women and so on, came from my mum,” Hemsworth said while adjusting his collage of Elizabeth Warren. “My dad has a very balanced and respectful view on a lot of things too. They were huge positive influences in my life.”
The star who can now be added to the annals of attractive men in the public eye who have pledged their allegiance to feminism revealed his exasperation with the basic inquiries about equality, saying:
“But it’s a funny conversation to even have, because of course it should be that way. Of course it should be equal.”
His mum would be proud.
