Man Put In Handcuffs Because He Failed To “Be Kind And Rewind”
“Be kind and please rewind” was sticker-ed onto each and every VHS that was available at your local movie rental establishment, long before streaming and downloading became the popular way to watch flicks. (Hopefully you weren’t one of the poor suckers to fall for those Blu-Ray players.)
According to The New York Times, a man in North Carolina was recently put in handcuffs due to a warrant for his arrest that was issued in 2002. James Meyers was pulled over for having a broken brake light and then there was some hesitation before the officer said, ““Sir, I don’t know how to tell you this…”
The crime? Failing to return a VHS tape that he had never returned. The true crime? The film of his choosing was Freddy Got Fingered.
Tom Green, the star of the notoriously bad-but-somehow-popular film, found out about the case because the internet exists. “It is just kind of ridiculous all around…I think the fact that the movie was ‘Freddy Got Fingered’ just makes it funnier for some reason. I don’t know why.” says Green.
Here in the YouTube video he made, Meyers calls out the North Carolina for wasting time and tax dollars on petty cases such as this one, while there seems to be severe heroin problem in the area.
