The Song “MMMBop” Is Now Old Enough To Vote

This month marks the 20 year anniversary of Hanson’s classic, can’t-get-it-out-of-your-head pop masterpiece, “MMMBop.” Vulture’s Rebecca Milzoff interviewed Zac, Taylor, and Isaac about the new album they’re working on, but mostly about “MMMBop.” Note: even after reading this interview, I’m still not sure what they’re saying for most of the song.

To clarify, it is the 20th birthday of the original demo track which was recorded in 1996. It got rejected a great deal before it was on Casey Kasem’s countdown in 97. Before we stroll further down memory lane together, it’s important to me that you know that the brothers now have a beer company called MmmhopsOkay, now we can proceed.

During the interview with Vulture, they discussed how young they were when they first started. They were making and attempting to sell music at the ripe ages of “10, 12, and, like, 14″ according to Taylor. To which Isaac responded with a “14? Golly, right.” Isaac is now 35 years old but has the vernacular of a young newsie. “Golly, right”????

Taylor Hanson, now 33, has a son that is old enough to start pumping out his own hits at 13. Taylor insists that “Ezra is actually very musical, he plays piano, and he’s very interested in it. So we’ll see —you never know.”
