Relax, Twitter Isn’t Going To Have 10,000-Character Tweets
Remember when, in January, Twitter unleashed a nightmare upon the globe and said that they were considering expanding tweets to a preposterous 10,000-character limit, prompting us all to wonder what anonymous eggs would do with one hundred times the space to troll people? That terrible fever dream is over, friends: Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey told the Today show this morning that Twitter will be sticking to 140 characters.
The decision ultimately came down to Twitter’s identity — the 140-character limit is what makes Twitter Twitter, after all. As Dorsey told Matt Lauer, “It allows for of-the-moment for everything.”
We already had Instagram making big, nonsensical changes this week — thank goodness for Jack Dorsey, bearer of good social media-related news.
