Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday Is A Prime Way To Spend Your Friday Night

Friday nights are for staying home, ordering in, firing up Netflix, putting on sheet masks, and then Snapchatting your friends terrifying sheet mask selfies. This is a well-known fact.

However, your Friday night ministrations should — must — include a home screening of Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, which hit Netflix last night. Members of the esteemed press (cough) were given a sneak peek at the film before its premiere at South By Southwest, and, well, it’s a freaking delight.

Diehard Pee-Wee fans will love all the Easter eggs in the movie, but even if you only vaguely remember watching reruns of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse when you were baked in college, you’re gonna love this movie. Pee-Wee is chafing at his small-town life when he’s offered the invitation of a lifetime from an outsider who roars into town on his motorcycle; the problem is, Pee-Wee has never left the city limits. Despite some major trepidation, Pee-Wee hits the road and meets a whole lot of wonderful weirdos along the way.

Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday has a cool cast that includes Alia Shawkat and Joe Manganiello, the Magic Mike XXL/True Blood sexpot whose big-hearted friendliness plays perfectly with Pee-Wee’s ageless sense of wonder and excitement. Reubens co-wrote the script with Paul Rust (Love), Judd Apatow is on board as a producer, and Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) provided the music.

Bust out your favorite snail goo mask and go on a Big Holiday tonight!
