Iggy Azalea Says She Had A “Psychotic Breakdown,” But Her Energy Has Been Renewed
In a new interview with the Schön Magazine (it’s Australian, Idk), Iggy Azalea says that she had a “psychotic breakdown” last year–and, listen, I am going to tell you upfront, that you should NOT make a joke about that being the reason she thought she was a black woman from the American south. That would be insensitive and unfunny, please get yourself together.
“I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year, now we’re going to do North America and the rest of Europe, which I didn’t feel like I was in the place to do that last time,” she said. “I felt tired and stressed out. Now, I feel like my energy’s been renewed.”
It seems this moment coincided with enduring criticism that Iggy was cultural appropriating and being racist and all of that other think-piece-generating stuff.
“It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was,” she said regarding the backlash. “You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it.”
Anyway, Iggy has a new song now called called “Team” and she is still singing in a blackcent, so that joke you were going to make earlier is not only bad but also wrong! Don’t you make that joke!
