Michelle Obama Collaborated With Missy Elliot, Kelly Rowland, And More For Her Song ‘This Is For My Girls’
When Michelle Obama decides to make something happen, she pulls out the big guns. So it’s no surprise that when she decided to make an anthem for her Let Girls Learn program, she enlisted some of the most iconic and badass female musicians in the game: Kelly Rowland, Missy Elliot, Zendaya, Lea Michele, Jada Grace, Janelle Monae, Kelly Clarkson, Chloe and Halle, and Jadagrace, with Diane Warren as the songwriter.
Before even listening to the song, that list has me dancing. I mean: MISSY ELLIOT AND JANELLE MONAE COLLABORATION?! I’m pregnant already; it’s official. Just the concept of this song has immaculately placed a child in me, and I’m going to keep the baby and raise her with the love and diligence merited.
The single was released on Tuesday, and can be purchased on iTunes. All of the proceeds will be going towards Let Girls Learn initiative, which focuses on helping the 62 million girls around the world who aren’t in school. All of which just makes the baby in my stomach kick with joy (I know, she’s growing extremely fast).
Michelle announced the song at a SXSW panel immediately after its release, in a panel moderated by none other than Queen Latifah and Missy Elliot.
