Happy 70th Birthday To The Glorious And Perfect Liza Minnelli!
It’s Liza Minnelli’s 70th birthday today! Though she says “I like to think of celebrating my birthday as celebrating my Minnellium.”
The daughter of Judy Garland and a legend in her own right, Liza isn’t just one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever known, she’s also been a fearless advocate for gay rights and AIDS awareness from the beginning.
Personally I plan to celebrate by painting my nails Sally Bowles green and swanning around the house singing the score from Cabaret, and maybe watching Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon, which I have not seen in an unfortunately long time.
Liza has been one of my heroes since I was a little girl–which may explain my tendency to wear black all the time and the several attempts to pull off spit curls in high school. OH. And the fact that I have an annoying habit of trying to cheer people up by singing “Put On A Happy Face.”
Here are some of my favorite moments from the diva’s career!
