Madonna’s Sad Clown Performance Is Too Glam To Be Believed

Madonna truly brought the color to her Rebel Heart tour when she decided to dress up like a clown for her show in Melbourne, Australia. Looking like a glammed up reboot of the sad-clown trope, Madonna’s alter-ego Madge straddled the line between pure absurdity and vulnerability. Her performance included a repartee of jokes about her clown sex-life, transitioning into a tearful dedication to her 15-year-old son Rocco, who currently lives with his father in London.

This performance itself was aptly named Tears of a Clown and failed to disappoint with Madonna’s rendition of “Send in the Clowns” from the musical A Little Light Music, with every emotional note successfully hitting the bittersweet spot.

She has yet to reveal whether Madge will reappear for future performances on her Rebel Heart tour, but given its wild success, the hope is yes.
