John Oliver Taking Trump Down Is The Most Cathartically Satisfying Thing That Will Happen To You This Morning

Last night’s Last Week Tonight was dedicated almost entirely to the waking nightmare that is Donald Trump. And it was glorious. Glorious!

Oliver spends a lot of time pointing out the various things Trump has lied about, the war crimes he’s advocated for, his reluctance to disavow white supremacist supporters etc. etc. However, I think my favorite part of the whole segment is where Oliver reveals that Trump has been sending hatemail to former Spy editor Graydon Carter–who called him a “short-fingered vulgarian”–with pictures of his hands with his fingers circled, and “See? Not so short!” written in gold Sharpie, since 1988.

The whole thing is worth a watch, but for the finale (starting at 18:52), Oliver reveals that Trump’s family name was originally “Drumpf,” which he hopes will take some of the magic away for people simply hypnotized by his fancy-sounding last name. The show also bought the website DonaldJDrumpf.com, where you can purchase “Make Donald Drumpf Again” hats, and install an app that replaces Trump with Drumpf.

MAGIC.
