Is John Kasich A “Moderate?” Samantha Bee Says Hell No

Throughout the primary season, John Kasich has been labeled as a “moderate.” Which has resulted in a myriad of infuriated texts from my mom during the debates. This has much less to do with his record or what he believes in than it does with the fact that he is able to comport himself in a normal manner instead of acting like a dude standing on a street corner wearing a tin foil hat and screaming about socialism.

As I pointed out yesterday, if you put Ted Bundy up on stage with Donald Trump and Ted Cruz and had to guess which one was the most reasonable, you would, without question, go with Ted Bundy.

However, Kasich is not a moderate. At all. For any reason! Thus, last night on Full Frontal, Samantha Bee pointed out the way he has fought both gay marriage and reproductive rights, and has not been anything close to a moderate on those issues as Governor of Ohio. Kasich, in fact, has been worse on reproductive rights than any other candidate running for the GOP nomination–from banning rape crisis counselors from discussing abortion as an option to banning late-term abortions with no exceptions for rape, incest or, most importantly in those cases, life of the mother.

Also, Bee points out, “Obergefell v. Hodges, the Supreme Court case that legalized same-sex marriage, was originally called Obergefell v. Kasich, after the governor who refused to recognize the out-of-state marriage of two men, one of whom was terminally ill.”

So yeah! Kasich is a moderate like a wolf in a wig is Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother.
