LGBTs Prefer Hillary To Bernie And Could Hardly Care Less About Republicans
According to a new survey from Consumer Marketing and Insights, the LGBT community prefers Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, albeit by a small enough margin. Forty-eight percent of those surveyed said that they would vote for Hillary; 41 percent went to Bernie; an astonishing 2 percent went to Donald Trump; and 1 percent each went to Marco Rubio and John Kasich.
The respondents also overwhelmingly did not support conservative issues – 89 percent didn’t care about stopping or reducing the number of abortions performed in the US, 87 percent don’t want to repeal Obamacare, 72 percent aren’t concerned about gun rights, and 59 percent don’t want to stop illegal immigration.
It’s not totally clear why queer people prefer Hillary to Bernie — 37 percent of voters thought that Hillary and Bernie would be equally supportive of LGBT issues, while 31 percent thought Bernie would be more supportive and 25 percent thought Hillary would be more supportive. Maybe it’s that “viable candidate” thing rearing its head? Maybe we just really like a good power suit?
Either way, basically, the LGBT community is going to vote Democrat, and as CMI points out, Republicans should probably take note: LGBT people compose about 5 percent of the voting public, which is enough to swing an election.
