A 12-Year-Old Girl Is Living With An Actual Ant Colony In Her Head
The idea of bugs nesting inside your skin or body is not completely foreign, many of us have had scabies or some bug-related ailment, and mosquito bites are the most common reminder that bugs are teeming in both volume and hunger. But the concept of a full-on community of bugs living with in a human? That is something straight out of a horror film, and sadly for 12-year-old Shreya Darji it’s reality.
The girl has been literally colonized by ants for months, with nearly hundreds of them escaping through her ears since last August. Doctors have attempted to flush out the hellions with antiseptics, and even used laparoscopic cameras in attempt to precisely locate the Queen ant and destroy her, but nothing has worked so far.
In hope of finding a cure, Darji’s family has even gone to Witch doctors, with equally unsuccessful results. She is currently under surveillance at an Ahmedabad medical unit.
“The girl’s case is very challenging for me, as I have never seen such a case, nor found it in medical history,” Dr. Jawahar Talsania said, “The big ants must be biting her, but the girl did not feel pain inside her ears. Besides, there was no damage inside her ear.”
Holy shit, godspeed to that healing process.
