From the “Oops, We Really Messed Up By Not Nominating You for An Oscar” files, it appears that Warner Bros. just made Fruitvale Station and Creed director Ryan Coogler the Creative Talent Ambassador for a UK program aimed at “finding apprenticeships and placements for youngsters across the country in various areas of the filmmaking industry.” Coogler was gracious about his new role, saying,

Having experienced firsthand the support and impact of program similar to Warner Bros. Creative Talent, it is fantastic to know that passionate young people of all backgrounds are being given the chance to follow their dreams here in the U.K. This can be a tough industry and so we need to do what we can to bring talented young people into it.

It didn’t escape anyone’s notice that a white man was the only person to be nominated for his work in Creed, and Coogler has previously gone on record to criticize the industry for lacking diversity. Hopefully his new role will help Warner Bros. push in a more inclusive direction.
