Get Your Money In Order, Because A New Beyoncé Album Is Coming

Ready your bank accounts and get that group text in order: A new Beyoncé album is coming. This should be no real surprise to anyone who paid attention to the internet over the weekend, but here’s how this played out.

On Saturday, Beyoncé dropped a new video for “Formation,” the first real, new music since 2013’s surprise album. On Sunday, she wiped the stage with the sad, limpid body of Chris Martin and Coldplay at the Super Bowl halftime show. Immediately following said show, she announced her Formation stadium tour. She wouldn’t just go on tour off the strength of one song, though I’d certainly pay money to see that, so it’s not out of this world to assume that a new album is on its way.

According to Billboard, last night on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Beyoncé’s stylist, Ty Hunter appeared and said at one point, “I’ve heard the new album and it’s beyond awesome.” Lest you jump to the conclusion that Ty Hunter is no longer an employee of Parkwood Entertainment, think again. Anything that’s a surprise to the public is the result of a carefully planned rollout, because Beyoncé wants us to be ready. This is the closest thing to a confirmation yet, so stay alert, stans. It’s coming.
