Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Novels Are Coming To A TV Near You

Good news for everyone who’s just been pretending to have read all four of Elena Ferrante’s Neopolitan novels! They’re being adapted for TV into four eight-part mini-series with help from the mysterious author herself, along with Fandango and an Italian production company. Each novel — My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, and The Story of a Lost Child — will have its own season, making for a total of 32 episodes about BFFs Elena and Lila. There’s currently no production schedule in place, so we have plenty of time to play fantasy casting and also, uh, read the novels. Not that we haven’t. Shhhh.
