FOX Just Ordered A Late-Night Lady Driven Sketch Comedy Series

The jury has been in for a while, white dudes. Women and minorities are just as funny (if not funnier), but comedy is about entertainment and not about competition. Everyone is better off working together for the highest quality, most hilarious product, and that’s exactly what FOX, The Lonely Island and three extremely talented women are about to do.

Comedians Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna and Alison Rich are set to star in a new late-night sketch series called “Party Over Here.” Executive produced by the Emmy Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated comedy trio The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone), the half-hour show will premiere Saturday, March 12 11:00 PM ET/PT. The trio will be joined by fellow Executive Producer and comedian, Paul Scheer, who will also be working as a director on the project.

“When we first conceived this idea, we thought of it as a spinoff of EMPIRE,” said The Lonely Island. “We failed miserably…now it’s much more of a sketch comedy show.”

While they could be serious, it’s more than likely they’re already slinging jokes about the series. Scheer added, ““In an age where most millennials don’t even know what a TV is, we are really excited to be getting into the TV business.”

Hopefully all these hot bits will keep us warm til March.
