BBHMM: The Eva Longoria Edition

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features a roundtable discussion with Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, Elizabeth Banks, and Eva Longoria. In a short clip, Longoria relates an anecdote about negotiating for a raise, only to have a male actor on the show ask her to fight for him to get more money, too.

My hands hurt a little from clapping so hard.

Longoria raises an extremely important point:

“I thought, ‘When would a man, the lead man of a show go, ‘I think the second-tier women should get a raise like us?”

It amazes me that even on a show centered around women, this dude still felt like he deserved to make a comparable amount of money to the leads. Let me kindly show you the door, sir; it’s the one marked “male privilege.”
