Phil Robertson Stumps For Cruz, Calls Same Sex Marriage “Sinful” And “Evil”

This Sunday, during a stump speech for Ted Cruz in Iowa, Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson shared some of his feelings about same sex marriage and the current administration.

“Don’t you understand that when a feller like me looks at the landscape and sees the depravity, the perversion! Redefining marriage and telling us that marriage is not between a man and a woman? Come on, Iowa! It’s nonsense! It is evil! It’s wicked! It’s sinful! And they want us to swallow it, you say.

We have to run this bunch out of Washington, D.C.. We have to rid the earth of them. Get’em out of there.”

Yes! We do want you to “swallow it!” Absolutely. Just like people had to “swallow” women getting the vote and the desegregation of lunch counters and schools. Because your desire to not live in a world where you are not annoyed by everyone having equal rights does not trump the fact that other people are entitled to equal rights.

Also, good luck “ridding the earth” of people who support same sex marriage! You can gerrymander your way into winning elections, but you can’t gerrymander your way into actual support, and the majority of people in this country now support same sex marriage. Given that 73% of millennials support it, you all are the ones on the way out. So either start crying into your beard now, or get the hell over it.

Ted Cruz followed Robertson on stage, calling him a “a joyful, cheerful, unapologetic voice of truth.”
