Female Shark Eats Male Shark After He Bumped Into Her Too Many Times

A female sand tiger shark ate a male banded hound shark because he kept bumping into her in the tank they shared. The act occurred in an aquarium in Seoul and took a good 21 hours or so.

According to the video, the female shark consumed her tankmakte head first, slowly but surely, until his entire body was inside hers, and not in a sexual way.

“Sharks have their own territory,” an aquarium official said to Reuters. “Sometimes when they bump into each other, they bite out of astonishment.”  This is a perfectly normal reaction, honestly. I can’t think of any other way to handle a situation like this.

According to official, the female shark will “retain” the male shark’s body for a couple days, but eventually, what goes in must come out. The female shark will regurgitate whatever’s left of him, because clearly, he’s too big to digest. Godspeed and good luck to the rest of their roommates.
