Women Murdered For Rejecting Man While Living In A Patriarchy

A Pittsburgh woman was killed this weekend after she rebuffed a man’s advances. According to CBS, 29-year-old Janese Jackson-Talton was shot in the chest outside of Cliff’s bar after repeatedly ignoring 41-year-old Charles McKinney.

KDKA-TV reports that the suspect fled the scene and was caught when he crashed his vehicle. He is now hospitalized in stable condition and “will face charges of aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, possession with intent to deliver and firearms charges.”

Jackson-Talton is said to be the sister of Pennsylvania State House Rep. Ed Gainey. According to a moving personal essay from The Root, she also leaves behind three children. Please keep her in your thoughts and bookmark this post for the next time someone suggests gun violence and toxic masculinity are not real problems.
