Over 22,000 People Have Signed A Petition To Stop Kanye West From Recording A Bowie Tribute
Rumors are currently circulating about Kanye West recording a David Bowie tribute album and Bowie fans aren’t exactly optimistic about the Yeezy Stardust possibilities.
The rumor gained traction after the tabloid The Daily Star reported it, but it has not been confirmed by West or his team. In the meantime, a petition with over 22,000 signatures has surfaced to stop him from doing this. Protective fans worry about this simply being an attempt to capitalize on Bowie’s death.
The speculative album was described as “some are straightforward covers with Kanye actually singing,” an unnamed source told the tabloid. “On others he is rapping with his own lyrics over Bowie’s music.” Which honestly sounds weird enough to warrant listening to, no matter how you feel about it.
For Bowie buffs in mourning, this is obviously a sensitive subject at a delicate time. But for the rest of us who want to see his music live on in surprising but respectful ways, this album has the potential to be pretty dope. The petition is impressive, but if you’re in the latter camp, here’s hoping that Kanye takes it as more of a dare.
