Planned Parenthood Is Suing The Group Responsible For Fetal Tissue Videos
This Thursday, Cecile Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood, announced in a tweet that the organization has filed a lawsuit that would hold the group behind the fetal tissue videos legally responsible for their “widely discredited video smears.” Can I get a hell yea?!
The now discounted videos, which were secretly filmed by a 26-year-old anti abortion activist and released in July, have accomplished a lot in terms of making the work of Planned Parenthood impossible. They’ve riled up mass shooters and caused the government to nearly shut down over something that wasn’t true. Multiple investigations found that PP had done nothing wrong.
Now someone has to pay– and that’s the Center for Medical Progress and the company behind it, Biomax, according to TIME. As a part of an “elaborate, secret conspiracy,” the lawsuit claims that they provided fraudulent information to gain access to Planned Parenthood conferences and doctors, which violates federal law.
This isn’t the first time the Center for Medical Progress has been in trouble. When the videos first broke in July, the organization was also accused of misrepresenting themselves to the IRS for tax exemption. Planned Parenthood’s lawyer Amy Bonse alleges that this is all part of a greater criminal enterprise that, “engaged in repeated criminal acts.”Dawn Laguens, the executive vice president of Planned Parenthood, called them, “among the nation’s most extreme anti-abortion activists.”
The man behind the videos and the organization in question, David Daleiden, responded how you’d expect: “Game on,” he said in an email. More like game over, dude.
